In Writing:
We are almost done with our biography projects! Here is a peek at what our class book on Amelia Earhart looks like. Below are a few examples of the individual projects. We studied Jesse Owens, Marie Curie, Abraham Lincoln, and Clara Barton. They will be shared at our writing celebration in June!
In Science:
- We started learning about the sun, moon, and earth!
- We read The Moon Book by Gail Gibbons and watched a fun Brainpop Jr. video
Long Term Moon Homework
- Starting tomorrow (December 6th) students will be filling out a moon phase calendar each night before bed for the next month and completing a few questions at the end of the cycle. If you have any questions, please let me know!
Our Elf, Candy Cane, came to visit this week! He loves watching our good behavior!
Reminder!
We are going on our field trip to the Discovery Museum in Acton next Friday, December 12th! We will be eating snack AND lunch in the classroom. Students will not be able to purchase lunch in the cafeteria (we will not be returning until after lunch hours) and no peanuts/tree nuts. Our chaperones are Mr. Otis, Mrs, Alsukairy, and Mrs. McCorry. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered!

It's beginning to look a lot like...
This week in math, we began Topic 7: Mental Subtraction. We learned a new game that can be played at home using different kinds of counters (beads, coins, etc.) and playing cards.
In Fundations, we practiced our fluency playing "Pick Up Sticks"...my group loved it!
In the computer lab we went on a moon treasure hunt! Students read several websites and filled in answers to different questions. We learned so much and we're ready for our test on Monday!
Our chimneys are hung with care and are FULL of lovely compliments! It is so nice to see students writing such nice things about each other. They are so special!
Parent gifts are wrapped with care :)
A few snip-its from the holiday sing-along in music class!
We read Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins with our 5th grade buddies and played dreidel!
Reminders
- Moon test is MONDAY, December 22nd
